Heptagon (seven-panel) folding gift boxes and tooling
七菱板 is a collapsible seven-panel rigid, not a round box with extra creases. Open, pink, and kraft catalog cases still need a dieline. Do not send a tube drawing and call it heptagon.
It is a die, not a filter
Seven panels must close without a crushed corner. Send a dieline or a sample. We will not “make it heptagon in Photoshop.” Wenzhou Taishan Printing Co., Ltd. cuts 七菱板 as a seven-sided collapsible rigid, not as a round tube with extra scores.
A round paper tube is a different family: diameter, height, and lid. A fan or star special-shape is another knife. Heptagon means seven wrap panels that meet when the box is erected. If your mock-up is a cylinder, you are in the wrong article.
Photos of open, pink, and kraft heptagon cases on this site are colour and structure references, not SKUs. Size still comes from inner millimetres on the RFQ.
- Seven panels, not a round tube.
- Dieline, flat, or a physical sample.
- Inner size labelled inner.
Inserts
Optional inserts follow the heptagon well. A round EVA in a seven-panel box is a second tool. The well should echo seven sides if you want the insert to look built-in rather than dropped in. Confirm the well on the same sample as the outer wrap.
Paper trays in a heptagon outer have the same rule: seven folds or a fitted nest. A square tray rattling in a seven-sided wrap is a packing complaint waiting for the first container.
Send the product or millimetres. Food-contact foam is a document claim — request current scans. We do not invent certificate numbers here.
Catalog wraps
Open, pink, and kraft wraps are colour/structure references. Board caliper still belongs on the RFQ. Folding gift boxes in this plant typically use 1.5–3 mm grey board. Pick one caliper for the sample.
Print still runs on Heidelberg 8-open, XL-75, or CDX102 after Kodak CTP when the wrap is printed, then lam, die-cut, and fold. Seven panels mean seven faces for artwork. Type that wraps around a corner must be planned on the dieline, not on a rectangular poster.
Foil and UV maps need a panel call-out. A spot that sits on a crush-prone corner will look different after freight than on a flat proof.
What 七菱板 is (and is not)
In this catalog, 七菱板 is the seven-panel collapsible rigid gift box. It folds for cube like other collapsible grey-board wraps, but the odd panel count does not always lie as flat as a four-sided wrap. Ask on the quote how the stack packs in the export carton.
It is not a heptagonal tube wound on a mandrel. It is not a lid-and-base with seven-sided lids unless you tool that as a separate rigid program. Mixing those sentences wastes a knife.
Corner crush and crease sequence
Seven corners must stand. Crease sequence and fold direction decide whether a corner mushrooms. We set that on the sample knife and the folder path. A four-sided dieline with two extra scores added in Illustrator is how corners crush.
Since 2000 this Longgang plant has run die-cut, lam, and folder-gluer on folding gift lines. Heptagon still needs its own knife. A reprint of a square folding box is not a heptagon.
Tooling versus reprint
New seven-panel geometry is tooling. A colour change on an existing heptagon dieline we already hold is closer to a reprint — only if the knife is ours and the caliper does not change. Do not assume we hold a competitor’s knife from a photo.
We do not publish MOQ or prices here. Quantity band belongs on the RFQ. Confirm whether you are buying a new knife or a wrap change.
What to put on the RFQ
Say heptagon or 七菱板, seven-panel collapsible rigid. Send dieline or sample. Inner L×W (across flats or vertex — say which) and height. Wrap mill sheet, insert yes/no, fold-flat freight or erected. Photos are not SKUs.
If you meant a round box, say tube and go to the paper-tube notes. If you meant a star or fan, say special-shape. We will not guess the polygon from a blurry retail shot.
- Seven-panel collapsible rigid — not a tube.
- Dieline or sample.
- How the plan size is measured.
- Grey-board caliper in the 1.5–3 mm catalog band, one value.
- Insert follows seven sides or is a second tool.
Put this on the RFQ
Catalog ranges only. Confirm on sample. Do not invent certificate numbers or a stock SKU from a photo.
- This is a seven-panel folding gift box, not a round tube.
- Send a dieline or a physical reference — new knives are likely.
- Core millimetres and wrap/finish map like other folding rigid boxes.
Catalog ranges only. Confirm on sample, board lot, and destination spec. Certificate numbers are not invented here — request current scans on the RFQ.
