How to write a custom gift-box RFQ to a Longgang converter
A usable RFQ names inner size, structure, board, print/finish map, quantity, and destination. A catalog photo is not a SKU.
Fields that let the plant quote
Wenzhou Taishan Printing Co., Ltd. quotes custom converting, not a warehouse SKU list. We manufacture at No. 187–239 Cendong Road, Longgang, since 2000. Write inner L×W×H, whether that size is inner or outer, box family, core, wrap or SBS, print and finish, insert, quantity band, and ship-to market.
Portfolio photos on this site are structure references. Cyan, orange, navy, or kraft looks on a folding gift box are not stock items you can reorder by colour name. If you only have a retail photo, say so. We will propose a close structure, not clone unknown tooling.
- Structure first: folding rigid, book-style, lid-and-base, drawer, carton, corrugated, tube, or PVC.
- Core second: grey board 1.5–3 mm, MDF 1.5–7 mm, SBS caliper, flute, or PVC gauge.
- Finish third: CMYK, spot, foil, UV, gloss/matte lamination.
- Documents fourth: FSC if needed, food-contact if needed — request current scans, do not paste catalog marks as a contract.
What we will not guess
Inner versus outer, magnet versus ribbon, and whether an insert exists. Missing fields delay the quote more than a hard price target. A nickname such as “perfume box” or “Mooncake box” is not a dieline.
We also will not guess window film, hang-tab, handle type, or whether the lid must sit snug or extra-loose for tissue. Those choices change steel, jig, and pack method. Put them on the RFQ even if artwork is not ready.
- Every millimetre labelled inner or outer.
- Closure: magnet, ribbon, tuck, or none.
- Insert: EVA, paper tray, flocked wrap, or empty cavity.
- Window, handle, and hang-tab: yes/no and position if yes.
Sample versus production lot
Say if you need a structure sample before a sea lot. Lead times differ. A white structure sample, a printed wrap sample, and a production booking do not sit on the same clock. See the Longgang sample article on this site.
Do not treat a sample date as a vessel date. Board lots, destination, and approval of the sheet all move the production calendar. Confirm dates on the RFQ reply — this article does not publish day counts as a guarantee.
Where to send it
Use the contact form on taishanprint.com (EN/ZH/ES) or [email protected]. WhatsApp +86 138 6598 7984. We reply as Wenzhou Taishan Printing — a manufacturer in Longgang since 2000, not a trading desk.
The plant is more than 20,000 m² of production with a 3,500 m² warehouse, 200+ staff, and 50+ machines, including Heidelberg sheetfed, Kodak CTP, die-cutting, lamination/varnish, and folder-gluer. Send the structure first; a complete RFQ is faster than a photo and a target price.
How the Longgang plant reads an RFQ
Estimating starts with family and cavity, then board and wrap, then print map. Heidelberg 8-open 4/5-color, XL-75 4/5-color, and CDX102 4/5/6-color lines print cartons and wrap sheets in-house. Kodak CTP plates the job. Die-cut and folder-gluer follow the locked dieline.
If the RFQ mixes three families in one paragraph, the quote splits or stalls. One program, one structure, one finish map. Related SKUs can be listed as variants after the first structure is clear.
- One box family per line item.
- Quantity as a band, not a website MOQ — we do not publish a stock minimum here.
- Destination country and whether sea or air is expected.
- Whether a physical sample already exists that we can measure.
Photos, nicknames, and structure families
A retail JPEG without a ruler is a mood board. We can name a close family — collapsible rigid, lid-and-base, book-style — and propose millimetres after you send the product size or a sample. We cannot promise the same cavity as an unknown brand’s existing die.
Colour names on this site describe photographed wraps. They are not Pantone contracts and not warehouse SKUs. If brand colour matters, send a coated-paper target or ask for a Heidelberg sheet, not a screen grab.
Special shapes (fan, star, round, heptagon) need a path or a sample. “Make it look like the photo” is not a steel-rule drawing.
After you send the first RFQ
Expect questions back on inner versus outer, insert, and finish map if those lines were empty. That is converting, not delay for its own sake. Answer in the same thread so the quote stays on one structure.
When you approve a structure sample, say whether print, foil, and lamination may proceed, or whether only the cavity is locked. Production does not start from a photo of a competitor’s box.
- Reply with labelled millimetres, not a new nickname.
- Request current certificate scans if FSC or food-contact will appear on the carton.
- Keep artwork and dieline as separate files when both exist.
Put this on the RFQ
Catalog ranges only. Confirm on sample. Do not invent certificate numbers or a stock SKU from a photo.
- Inner L×W×H and whether that size is inner or outer.
- Box family: folding rigid, book-style, lid-and-base, drawer, carton, corrugated, tube, or PVC.
- Core/board, wrap or print/finish map, insert, quantity band, destination.
Catalog ranges only. Confirm on sample, board lot, and destination spec. Certificate numbers are not invented here — request current scans on the RFQ.
