What to write on the packing line

Units per inner, inners per master, pallet or floor load, and whether mixed SKUs share one carton are converting lines. A hero photo of a rigid gift box does not carry those numbers. Marking language belongs here as well: English and Spanish marks are common on export lots, and they should sit in a mark drawing or a typed block, not in a voice note.

Inner pack versus master carton

An inner is the unit that a retailer or a gift program treats as one pack. A master is the corrugated shipper that carries those inners. Mixing the two words produces a count error on the packing list and a wrong cube on the booking.

Write units per inner and inners per master as numbers. There is no plant-wide default that fits both a collapsible rigid that ships flat and an assembled lid-and-base that needs dividers. “Standard packing” is not a specification.

• Inner: what one retail or gift unit contains.
• Master: how many inners sit in the shipper.
• Floor load vs pallet: say which, then height if palletized.

Mixed SKUs and gift sets

A gold wrap and a navy wrap in one program are two SKUs unless you say they share a master. Mix packing changes marking, QC sampling, and sometimes the divider. It is not a sticker added at stuffing.

Sets with a box plus a bag, a sleeve, or a card need a packing tree: which pieces sit together, which ship spare, and which must not crush the foil panel. Write the tree on the RFQ. Catalog photos of sets are structure references, not a stuffing recipe.

Collapsible versus assembled

Folding rigid packs denser when it ships flat. Assembled lid-and-base and MDF stay-up packs need dividers, corner protection, and more cube. Do not reuse a carton spec from a sleeve or folding-carton program: grey-board gift boxes and corrugated mailers crush differently.

Corner crush and stacking height follow board, flute, and how the inner sits. We will not invent an ECT grade as “typical export.” If your freight forwarder or warehouse has a stacking rule, put it on the RFQ so the shipper can be discussed against that rule.

If the program must travel as a collapsible cube, say so next to the inner size after the box is erected. Flat-ship and stay-up lots should not share one carton drawing.

Pallet, floor load, and height

Pallet or floor load is an RFQ line. Pallet height, carton orientation, and whether you need a pallet sheet or corner boards are converting and logistics choices, not afterthoughts. A plant that can palletize still needs your height cap if the destination has one.

We will not invent a destination’s maximum pallet height or a wood-treatment stamp. If treated pallets are required, write that requirement. If the lot should remain floor-loaded cartons, write that too. Silence is not a default to either method.

Marks, language, and destination notes

Shipping marks on the master are not the same file as gift-box wrap. Product-facing copy lives in artwork. Carton marks live in a mark drawing: SKU, count, destination, and handling icons if you use them.

Name the destination country or region on the RFQ. The catalog states coverage of multiple countries and regions; it does not publish country-by-country packing SKUs or sales figures, and this article will not invent them. Language on the mark (EN, ES, or both) should match what your warehouse will read.

Treated pallets and what we will not invent

If the destination needs treated wood pallets, say so on the RFQ. This article will not fake an ISPM stamp number, a fumigation certificate code, or an HS heading as official advice. Those belong in current documents for that shipment, requested when they apply.

Pallet treatment is a logistics claim, not a printing-license scan and not an FSC logo from the April catalog. Catalog marks for FSC, quality system, high-tech enterprise, and printing license are not contract numbers. Request current scans when a claim must sit on the PO.
